What is a sharp eye?

Is it the ability to select the right blood combination?

Is it the ability to spot the foal with the greatest potential for the sport?

Is it the ability to see the young horse with international potential?

Usually when you see a horse for the first time you have a personal feeling about if this is the "horse". But being as good and with so much experience that you can pick them one by one, there are yet no masters. To be able to look through your fingers with not so good things, and then later learn that things still can go up into a higher unit, takes more than experience.

The development of a horse depends almost for 100% by the opportunities it gets with his rider.

The experienced breeder

Dutch breeder Emmy de Jeu made a decision 10 years ago to breed her Contango/Rubinstein/Figaro mare to Jazz. The result a now 9-yr-old mare Wench de Jeu, which has been through the diffent education stages, and now has become a clear star for the future.

Wench was a typical Jazz offspring, long legged and a little long in the back and with Rubinstein's characteristic beautiful head and big eyes Emmy tells.

As a 3 year-old Wench de Jeu made a very nice performance test with 8 for walk and canter and 9 for trot and rideability. Then she became broadmare and had 2 foals by Voice. A filly which was sold and the stallion Che de Jeu, as Emmy now keeps in training in Harskamp with Werner and Gal.

Wench de Jeu went back in training with Ellen Bontje, where she looked like a broadmare back in training, then from there sold to Geert-Jan Raateland which now competing her successful at Prix St. Georg level. The mare has turned into a class horse with a big pontentiale from H2R´s point of view.
